People
always ask...
What are the fees?
Personal training fees vary based on
location, number of sessions,
and number of people in small-group trainings. Fees for
1-on1
sessions are between $55 and $70/per session depending on
commitment. For complete rate information please contact me
at Kristin at takeitoutsidefitness dot com or 503-701-2179.
Small group trainings and classes are on terms. Please see
class descriptions for more details.
When and where do we train?
All personal training sessions are by
appointment. We can meet for your sessions outdoors or in
my studio. (I can come to your home too. There may be an
additional fee for travel time.) Location details for the
classes are listed on the Classes page.
Are there expiration dates or refunds on training
packages?
Packages are good for 1 year from date of
purchase, unless indicated in specials or discounts.
Typically there are no refunds on personal training
sessions. In the case where there is a refund, refunds are
based on the remaining amount against the number of
sessions used at the current single session rate. You can
transfer your sessions to another person.
What about make up classes?
I either offer 1 make up class per term on a
designated day, or you can attend another class on the
schedule, as long as there is room in the class.
Do I have to wait for the start of a new term to
take classes?
No! Join in at anytime. You can attend
classes on a drop in basis. I offer term classes so people
can get a discount for the commitment they make each month.
Some classes are best started at the beginning of the term,
such as Pilates for Newbies. When in doubt just call me to
discuss it.
How many sessions should I expect to do with
Kristin?
That depends on your determination, body
awareness, budget, schedule and more. Many trainers create
a trainer dependency for
their clients. I prefer to educate you on how to make your
fitness goals just that - yours! I'm here to get you
started, develop a sound
routine and plan. From there, some of my clients really
enjoy the regularity of meeting weekly, monthly or
quarterly. Some prefer to get comfortable with their
routine and go solo, then check back in periodically for
updates to keep progressing to the next level. That's why
it's called personal training.
What if it rains?
Come rain or shine, we gotta keep movin’!
The weather is only a factor if you aren’t dressed
appropriately. (PLUS, when it’s cold you burn more
calories.) IF the weather is extreme I will cancel class
and we will make it up on a designated day.
What does "functional exercise" mean?
Functional exercise is about activities that
strengthen your body for real-life activities in real-life
positions. When we work out on machines in the gym, we are
isolating some muscles and neglecting others. When we
perform functional exercises, we are teaching multiple
muscle groups to work together. Examples include balancing
on one leg, squats, bent-over row. Consider it a workout
for mind AND body.
Why choose Kristin Jackson and Take It Outside
Fitness?
Clients tell me the main reasons they train
with me is 1) they feel encouraged and supported, 2) they
prefer gym free workouts, 3) they want variety, 4) they
like the sense of community Take It Outside! offers, 5)
it's fun!
Do I need any special equipment?
When we workout outdoors, we might use
stairs, park benches, trees, handrails, playground
equipment, and the soft grass as our “gym” equipment.
You’ll need to bring water and wear sneakers with good
tread (no Keds, sandals, flip flops). Also wear appropriate
clothing for the weather. Some of the classes require free
weights (3-5 lbs) or a mat.
Why exercise outdoors?
We all know the benefits of exercise—it
helps with weight management, improves sleep patterns,
lowers cholesterol—the list goes on. But we spend most of
our stress-full days indoors. By exercising outside, our
minds and bodies are awakened by the pleasant surroundings.
The natural light improves our moods, even during winter.
The fresh air gives our bodies and minds a break from our
high-tech, stale indoor environments. You don’t get any of
that from an indoor gym!
Can a recovering couch potato participate?
It's never too late to start exercising. If
you have a serious health condition please let me know, and
we can discuss your options. Starting out slowly is best
way to begin, so let me know you want to start making
positive lifestyle changes and I can help you set realistic
goals!
What's to say I can't do this on my own?
I strongly encourage my clients to work out
independently. But by working with a trainer, initially or
on-going, you will learn proper form and get the most out
of your workouts. And yes, people can work out on their
own, but many don't - so that's why a class or an
appointment is more likely to keep you on track.
