I believe to truly care for our bodies, minds and spirits we should enjoy time outside, away from the electronic grind, connect our brains with our bodies, and have some FUN!
I started Take It Outside! Fitness offering classes and training sessions using the outdoors as our gym... But not all my knowledge and tools transfer easily to the outdoors--my pilates machines, free weights, BOSUs, medicine and fitness balls, etc. So I host classes and small group trainings at my Functional Fitness Studio as well. Regardless of where we meet, people train with me because they seek accountability to stay on track, help setting realistic goals, a supportive environment, and FUNctional fitness programs that they can do anywhere!
My top fitness interests these days include hula hooping, long walks, short runs, jumping rope, suspension training, pilates, balance work and foam roller massage (definitely the foam roller!). When I'm off duty you'll find me at the library, hanging with my husband and doggie (probably outside), or crafting some sew-it-up-from-recycled-materials-cute-but-functional doodads.

Taya Gunsul
My dedication to health guides my personal and professional life. I started my career as a Registered Nurse in 1992, continued studying the body and became a Licensed Massage Therapist in 2000. After discovering a passion for Yoga, I began teaching in 2003. I now integrate this knowledge with my skills as a Certified Personal Trainer, resulting in a program specific to your body's needs.
I am pleased to be a part of the TIOF community. I base my practice in the peaceful Mt. Tabor neighborhood teaching classes and training at multiple locations. My massage style includes traditional Swedish and Deep Tissue, although my specialty is Thai Massage (passive yoga style). I enjoy teaching clients self care techniques--stretches or strengthening exercises as well as how to use the foam roll or other tools to release tension. When I'm not with clients you might find me training for a fitness event, volunteering in my community, traveling with my husband or relaxing outdoors with my dogs.
Additional certifications and trainings:
- American Council on Exercise-CPT
- Yoga Alliance-Registered Yoga Teacher (500 hr.)
- Facilitated Stretching
- Somatic Patterning
- Thai Massage
- Fighting Fat over 30
