When I started out as a personal trainer over 10 years ago, everyone
was bouncing around an aerobics room or pushing heavy weights
on machines...and often getting injured! These activities are not all bad,
and can be fun, but if the movements become too repetitive or don’t help
you in your everyday life, you may look good on the outside but have
a weak core on the inside. So, that’s why I’ve devoted my studies to pilates and functional fitness.
Pilates and functional fitness focus on activities that strengthen our bodies for real-life activities. Unlike typical gym workouts that isolate muscles and neglect others, functional exercises train multiple muscle groups to work together. Squat, balance on one foot, comfortably move in multiple directions. . . after all that’s what we do everyday.
But, if you’re inactive, or just do one type of exercise your body may need to develop a stronger core and re-learn to move in multiple planes. The results are:
• better posture
• improved balance
• smaller waist and leaner muscles
• improved cardio
• fewer aches and pains.
If you are sick and tired of feeling sick and tired, functional fitness and pilates can get you feeling better, moving more fluidly and having fun in your everyday life!
You
ultimately control what happens to your body. Together we
can make a difference.
Let’s get started!
