January 2018 classes

Take It Outside Fitness

These classes are super fun and invigorating. We blend recess games, play, agility, balance and somatic awareness to stimulate your whole body AND brain. Think you're too old to join? Ha! Ages run from 40s all the way up to 80+!  And yes, we meet for class, come rain or shine. Students  say they love earning the bragging rights to say they Take It Outside no matter what! Keeping it real. :-)

Forget the saying muscle memory. There is no brain in your muscles, so how could memories possibly be stored there? You do have an amazing brain in your skull though! In this class you'll learn how the brain controls the muscles that move the bones, including your thigh bone, and everything else in your body. If you want to change what you do with your body, go to the root of all movement, the brain!

And most people aren't actually getting relief, some are becoming addicted to pain meds. There is a better, safer, and simpler way; By tapping into the brain and nervous system that is stuck in faulty patterns and has forgotten how to release tight muscles. You aren't just a bunch parts, so why are you addressing just the site of discomfort? In this class we will address the whole spine, from skull to tailbone. You have to experience it to believe it!

If you have a tight back, and are told to "strengthen your core" Please! Stop! Stop fighting the tension with more tension. Somatics is gentle and so easy it's down right unAmerican. ha!

This class is so much fun! I'll lead you through a oh-so-simple way to get from standing to lying down on the floor with complete ease. The act of getting down to the floor is often avoided as we age because we think we can't get back up. In reality that avoidance is coming from your brain, not your actual ability to rise from the floor. But if you avoid getting up and down, over time, your brain learns how to not move freely. Please come learn something new!. After all, if you did fall down, you want to be able to get back up, right? 

Somatics Surprise

Jan 30 marks my Daddy's birthday. He would be 82 this year.  I dedicate this class to him! Expect some funny antics and somatic awareness on the heart, because he was hilarious and had the biggest heart around. Ironically his heart was failing his whole life, but it never held him back. You're alive so enjoy yourself every day, and what better way with somatic awareness. See you there!
