Gardening for Good Health

When the sun starts coming out earlier and the polar fleece is too hot, I start thinking about what to plant in the garden. Well, that and that I better start shaving my legs more often! :-)

Gardening is one of those things that just fits perfectly into my gym-free, DIY, eco friendly lifestyle. You can get a great functional workout, reduce your stress, save money, and grow what you want organically and GMO free. And it couldn't get any fresher than picking it and eating it right there at home!

Living in Oregon means we have so many good resources around town and the state to help too. Here are a few of my favorites.
  • I really like Territorial Seed Company's Planting Chart for our area, which tells you everything you need to know about when to plant, how deep, soil temps and more, all in one place. 
  • Portland Nursery has a great Veggie Planting Calendar brochure too and it lists even more fruits and veggies!
  • And we lucky to have a great Oregon State Extension Gardening Program that has all kinds of valuable tips, videos and calendars. 
  • Want a garden extraordinaire, but think your thumb is more brown than green? Then talk to my friend Annie Bamberger with AnnieBam Landscape Solutions. She's awesome and can truly help even you develop a greener thumb! She can do it all, or she a great DIY service, where she helps you design a yard perfect for your wants and desires, and shows you how to do it yourself. Just go to her website and see for yourself!
