Goodwill Hunting with the Mormons

Sometimes I fantasize of hitting the road for a long, country-wide road trip. Along the way I'd hit small-town thrift stores for amazing steals, because here in Portland, most thrift stores are not so thrifty. This past weekend though, I only had to cruise down SE 82nd for some amazing deals. Yeah, I know, not the most beautiful strip in Portland, but it was worth the trip!

Christa and I planned a day of thrift store touring, but ended up we found a plethora of deals at Deseret Industries at 10330 SE 82nd Ave, just north of King Street. I hadn't been in there in years, but remembered it had super cheap glassware, back when that's what I hunted for. Well, they still have smoking deals on housewares, but we checked out the clothing. The store is clean, doesn't smell like a thrift store, and they divide clothing by gender, size, type--sweaters, blouses, t-shirts, etc--and even color so you can find stuff what you want and pass on the crap you don't.

Long story short, here's what I came away with:
1 tank top
3 t-shirts
1 blouse
2 skirts
1 pair of corduroy pants (Ann Taylor too!)
1 dress
1 vintage western shirt for Corey
1 Eddie Bauer linen shirt for Corey

11 items, $54 grand total! Sweet!

Christa scored some goodies too, including a vintage red Mister Rogers sweater and a Mad Men style London Fog rain coat, which looks super cute on her.

Now, granted the store supports the Mormons and their mission, which I think is to get everyone to join their cult, ride bikes and wear short sleeve dress shirts with navy blue slacks. To each their own... I won't go to their church, but I will go to their store!

Summer will come, and I'll be ready!

The photo doesn't do it justice. I love the cute eyelet fabric.

Oh. No. Way. That I did not buy!
