I don't buy it: True Stretch

I'm not going to win any friends in the world of fitness equipment sales with this post, but I just had to share this with you. I saw this in one of my trade catalogs. It's called True Stretch.

I did some research on how to use this thing, and I'm pretty sure I could come up with a safe alternative to just about every stretch this cage can provide. Granted my options would require using railings in the park, doorways at home, jungle gyms on the playground, trees and plan ol' weight machines at the gym. If I wanted to invest in a piece of equipment I could mimic a lot the flexibility stretches with a TRX too.

My moves would cost you nada, or $180 for the TRX, which you could use for stretching and strengthening. You could even use it for pilates based moves (I've developed a series of moves that mimic the pilates reformer, but that's for another post.)

Or you could spend nearly $2500 on the True Stretch. Yep, that's twenty five hundred dollars!

To be fair, I will say True Stretch might encourage non-stretchers to add flexibility training to their routines. People with poor mobility or balance might like it. If your gym is a nasty, dirty place you could avoid getting down on the floor to stretch. And if you bought one for home use it would make an awesome place to hang your clothes. You know, like that treadmill you have in the spare bedroom at home.

What do you think? Is this on your list of "must haves"? Would you buy one? Just curious. . .

Or, I could use it for training my very own fireman!
