healthy tip: drink more H2O

Tomorrow is a new year and you probably have at least one resolution you want to attempt, right? If living a healthier lifestyle is one, but you aren't sure where to start, here's a really basic tip: drink more water. I'm amazed at how many people don't drink much if any H2O.
Why drink it? It makes you smarter, more beautiful and energetic. No, really, it helps with brain function, clearer skin and ups your energy levels, plus a whole lot more.

Please just drink it from the tap too! If Americans paid the same markup for gas as they do for bottled water there'd be riots in the streets. Bottle water is not only a waste of money, the environmental impact is overwhelming. Plus most bottled water is just tap water from another town, bottled, packaged, and shipped to your grocery store. Kinda silly, when you think about it. Plus, if you are blessed to live in Portland, OR you have some of the tastiest, purest tap water around. (I've been to 8 countries and 49 US states so I've done some serious taste testing.)

How much to drink? That varies from person to person. The Mayo Clinic's website has some tips on water consumption, but sums it up with
"if you drink enough fluid so that you rarely feel thirsty and produce 1.5 liters (6.3 cups) or more of colorless or slightly yellow urine a day, your fluid intake is probably adequate."
I think I'll just go with the color cue...who the hell measures their pee?!

Water is precious resource, so be sure to conserve it too! Did you know it takes over 50 gallons of water to make your to-go latte. And here are some amazing stats on how much water goes into the making of everything from t-shirts to cars. Kind of depressing, but does make you think. And that's a good thing!

Holy moly! 50 gallons for ONE to-go latte? Good thing I don't buy 'em.

But, I do drink fizzy bottled H2O. I'll have to change my ways.
