Anyway, when I made plans to meet up with Kathleen Bauer at Cellar Door Coffee Roasters last Friday, I said I could meet after I finished my volunteer shift at Holgate Library. She said, "Oh, you're so good." Whatever. I'm hardly saintly doing what I do at the library. For a few sweet hours I talk to myself, work on my alphabetization, feed my book addiction, and smile at old ladies in the large print section. I've volunteered for Loaves and Fishes and my old dog Jake and I worked with Therapy Pet Pals of Texas. But for me, the library is perfect. I figure I put so many books on hold, it's the least I can do to go help out.
So, what about you? Have you found a nice niche for your volunteer time? My friend Martrese volunteers with Friends of Mt Tabor Park. (Why I haven't gotten my butt in gear and joined this group I don't know.)
April 25th is Hands on Portland's largest day of service. Check out how you can help.
Or contact my friend Gayle to help out on a Rebuilding Together project, on April 25. Starbucks will provide breakfast and RBT will provide lunch. You can help fix up a porch and paint the interior of a sweet lady's home. They need people to sign on to help by next week, so let her! email@example.com
Ok, that's it for now...gonna go take it outside for a walk, run.
