cheap exercise tip #4: get off your butt, often!

Do you know how many calories you need to burn to lose 1 pound of body weight? 3500 calories. Seem like a lot? Well then all the more reason to move it to lose it.

do you seems to gain 5-10 lbs a year without even trying? Those stealth pounds pad our bodies because we take in just a few more calories per day or week than we burn off. Just a mere 50 extra calories per day will equal 5 extra pounds a year. Don't believe me? Let's do the math:

50 calories/day x 365 days in year = 18,250 extra calories 
Divide 18,250 calories by 3500 = 5.21428571 pounds

But in the same light, if we move a bit more everyday, we can counteract the bulge by creating a calorie deficit. 

So many activities, so little time. Banging on this computer is not one of them! ;-) Now go take it outside!

Let's see....if I walk 3 miles a day, but eat 5 miles a day...I'M FRIGGIN' FAT!
